From
PricewaterhouseCoopers to Estate Law
Brett began his legal and professional career at PricewaterhouseCoopers, one of the largest accounting, tax, and consulting firms in the world. That foundation, steeped in tax-related strategic advising and complex asset structures, informs everything he does for clients today.
When Brett transitioned to estate law, he brought that analytical background with him. Where many attorneys focus purely on document drafting, Brett approaches each plan as an integrated strategy: understanding a client’s full financial picture, identifying tax exposure, and building a plan that protects assets not just at death, but throughout a lifetime.
He earned his Juris Doctor from Chapman University’s Dale E. Fowler School of Law in Orange, California — one of the few law schools in the country located in the heart of the community it primarily serves. His undergraduate degree in Middle Eastern Studies and Arabic from Brigham Young University reflects both the intellectual curiosity and the cross-cultural communication skills his clients benefit from every day.
I worked with Brett to modify my will and trust. I usually don’t enjoy talking to lawyers, but every interaction with Brett was pleasant — he is honest, knowledgeable, patient, thoughtful, and thorough

Professional Involvement & Community Leadership
Brett’s commitment to the legal profession extends well beyond his client work. He is an active member of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society, Orange County Chapter, one of the largest and most active chapters of the national organization, with approximately 150 members drawn from across the county’s legal community. The JRCLS-OC is an affiliate of the Orange County Bar Association and is recognized for its CLE programming, public service work, and annual Religion & the Law Symposium hosted at Chapman University.
Brett currently serves as a board member of the JRCLS Orange County Chapter, the professional chapter of the organization, separate from any law school affiliation, whose membership is drawn from practicing attorneys and judges across Orange County. His board service reflects both his standing among his peers in the Orange County legal community and his dedication to professional excellence and public service.
Separately, while attending Chapman University’s Dale E. Fowler School of Law, Brett served as president of the law school’s student chapter of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society — a distinct chapter from the Orange County professional chapter he serves today. That student leadership role, combined with his current board service in the professional chapter, reflects a sustained commitment to the organization across two different stages of his career.
Why Clients Choose Goodman Estate Law
Brett built his practice on a simple conviction: estate planning should not feel like a transaction, and it should never feel like a sales pitch. Every client engagement begins with a genuine conversation, instead of closing attempt. Brett listens first, explains clearly, and lets clients decide what is right for them at their own pace
What clients consistently say about working with Brett:
I don’t like pushy, salesy people — Brett is the opposite of that. If you’re looking for knowledge, a friendly peaceful advisor and guide, Brett Goodman is the guy.

Rooted in Orange County
Brett grew up in Tustin and now lives in Villa Park with his wife and three children. He is not an attorney who relocated to Orange County, he is from here. He understands the community, its families, its real estate landscape, and what is at stake for the people he represents.
Brett is fluent in Spanish, having spent two years as a full-time missionary. That language fluency, combined with his background in cross-cultural studies, makes him especially effective with clients whose families span different languages, cultures, and financial backgrounds — a common reality in today’s Orange County.
