Lake Forest, California, is a dynamic city where residents enjoy a harmonious blend of commercial success, stunning green spaces, and a vibrant sense of community. This dynamic mix has fueled the city’s steady growth and solidified its reputation as a fantastic place to live, work, and explore.

Incorporated in 1991, Lake Forest evolved from its earlier identity as El Toro. Recognizing the potential for further prosperity, residents voted in 2000 to expand the city limits, welcoming the master-planned communities of Foothill Ranch and Portola Hills. This expansion brought a wave of new homes and commercial centers, enriching the city’s northeastern landscape.

True to its name, Lake Forest boasts two man-made lakes, providing a picturesque backdrop to a variety of condominiums and custom homes. Residents living beside these aptly named Lake 1 (Lake Forest Beach and Tennis Club) and Lake 2 (Sun and Sail Club) enjoy exclusive access to top-notch amenities. Tennis courts, gyms, basketball courts, barbecue pits, volleyball courts, swimming pools, saunas, hot tubs, and clubhouses for social gatherings – the lakeside lifestyle offers something for everyone.

The “forest” aspect of Lake Forest’s name also has a fascinating backstory. The Eucalyptus trees standing tall between Ridge Route, Jeronimo, Lake Forest, and Serrano roads were not a natural phenomenon. In the early 1900s, a local landowner named Dwight Whiting envisioned attracting development to the area. He embarked on a bold project – planting over 400 acres of Eucalyptus groves near Serrano Creek. This man-made “forest,” though intended as a lumber operation, ultimately transformed into a verdant haven that continues to be a beloved part of Lake Forest’s character.
