Brett earned his law degree (J.D.) from Chapman University and a bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Middle Eastern Studies and Arabic from Brigham Young University. He served as president of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society while in law school, and is fluent in Spanish after a two-year missionary experience. Now living in Aliso Viejo with his wife and children, Brett remains active in his community.

The “forest” aspect of Lake Forest’s name also has a fascinating backstory. The Eucalyptus trees standing tall between Ridge Route, Jeronimo, Lake Forest, and Serrano roads were not a natural phenomenon. In the early 1900s, a local landowner named Dwight Whiting envisioned attracting development to the area. He embarked on a bold project – planting over 400 acres of Eucalyptus groves near Serrano Creek. This man-made “forest,” though intended as a lumber operation, ultimately transformed into a verdant haven that continues to be a beloved part of Lake Forest’s character.
